Raisings

All raising ceremonies will be posted here by a moderator. Once a member is called to his or her raising, they should reply sa detailed in the following posts. Once the ceremony is completed, the member will have completed his or her raising, and a notice will be posted in the Announcements forum.

Raising ceremonies are for raising to Aes Sedai, Gaidin/Gaidar, and Asha'man only. Raisings to second rank (Accepted, Youngling, Dedicated) are automatic once a member has been approved for raising, and a notice will be posted in the Announcements forum once the raising is approved.

Raising to Aes Sedai

After passing the test, Accepted will be called here by the Amyrlin Seat to swear the Three Oaths. These oaths are as follows:

To do no harm

The first oath of Shining Towers encompasses, in spirit, the three oaths of the book Aes Sedai. A part of this is speaking no word that is not true; or, more correctly, it is being honest and open with others. Aes Sedai have a great deal of power, and learning not to abuse that power is a part of what Aes Sedai training is about.

To protect others

The second oath flows on from the first. Aes Sedai should not only refrain from using their power for ill; they should use it for good. This oath may apply to our outside lives, or to our lives here at Shining Towers. Aes Sedai stand up for the members of her Ajah, of the White Tower, and of Shining Towers, because we are a community.

To further the community

The third oath of the Aes Sedai belongs to our community. While the seond oath is dedicated to protecting members of the community, the third is dedicated to protecting the community; to working towards its goals, and to ensuring that it runs as it should.

Raising to Gaidin/Gaidar

After passing the test, Younglings will be called here by the Head Gaidin to swear one oath. This oath is as follows:

Oath of fealty

The oath of fealty is to the Garrison, Aes Sedai and Asha'man, and to the Shining Towers community and its members - to serve and to protect.

Raising to Asha'man

After passing the test, Dedicated will be called here by the M'hael to swear three oaths. These oaths are as follows:

To guard

The title of Asha'man means 'Guardian,' and this is the first duty of the Asha'man, to guard the community and its members.

To fight

Unlike Aes Sedai, the Black Tower was forged in battle, and all Asha'man may be called upon to fight when they are needed; not only to protect Shining Towers, but to make it better each day.

To serve

Like Aes Sedai, Asa'man are servants; they may serve the Black Tower, helping to recruit and train future Asha'man, or the site as a whole, helping where they are needed, serving their own and greater goals.
